Action without effort!
Eh Ma Ho!
In the spacious sky of unsupported rigpa,
Are all the self-arisen Kagyu Gurus.
Demonstrating their enlightened bodies of unobstructed appearance,
I beseech you to reveal the face of self-liberation to me!
I, Ratna, the indolent beggar,
From the apparent conditions of being encouraged, connected with
Relying on tens of kind gurus
A summary of the essence of their oral instructions
Arose like this, in the mind of I, the beggar.
The sublime one has seen this pit of the prison of samsara.
Of this suffering of existence, I am terrified!
This messenger of evil deeds is skilled in deceit!
It is similar to being cast into the abyss of the lower realms.
This body of leisure and endowment is difficult to find.
It is easy to destroy, like bubbles on the water.
Although there is the thought it will stay forever,
I haven’t seen any guarantee it will be around till tomorrow.
When the army of death arrives,
The mind will separate from the cherished and nurtured body.
Throw away unnecessary infatuation with relatives.
You will leave behind your beloved and the burden of the difficult to accumulate line of wealth,
And wander in unfamiliar intermediate state without friend.
Carrying the load of accumulated evil deeds,
Protector less, and without the cover of clothing.
Just think! You will go naked and empty handed
For that the sublime dharma is of certain benefit.
If you don’t accomplish the dharma right now, on this basis,
It is casting this and future lives to the wind.
Think about that and reduce your mental proliferations so they accord with the dharma!
Another option is you can take this opportunity for understanding the definitive meaning:
Build a house which is unafraid of death.
On the basis of the all-pervading ground of all,
Is the encircling fence of individual liberation and the bodhisattva.
In the palace of the secret mantra Vajrayana,
Are the brightly colored array of stars of the middle way- free of partiality.
On the roof of the essence of Mahamudra,
Is the supporting beam of Dzogchen which is beyond the intellect.
When the interior of the house is established in this way,
The army of birth and death will not have any strength.
Fighting is not needed so there is complete relaxation.
There is no pain, so things are comfortable.
Not only that, but some armor should be put on:
The armor is the view without grasping.
The ornaments of the hands are emptiness and clarity, free from action.
On the helmet of the great expressive energy fully complete,
Are the ornaments of the helmet: all the appearances of primordial wisdom.
The arrow does not mix acceptance and rejection.
And connects to the bow of inexpressible selflessness .
The sword is the equal strength of method and wisdom.
And the wielding of the spear which pierces the reality habit of clinging to permanence.
Like that, the hero possessing armor and weapons
Can be compared to the overcoming of samsara’s afflictive emotions.
Not only their overcoming, it can be likened to their uprooting.
And furthermore, there is the destruction of phenomenon.
For me, because the names of the six classes of beings do not exist,
The expression “wandering in samsara” does not exist.
For me, because I am not covered by evil deeds,
I have not seen, even that virtue which is to be accomplished.
Because in the beginning birth is without foundation,
For me, in the end there is no cause of death.
Formerly, because physical appearance had not been established,
Now there is no doubt about arising.
The act of meditation and the agent who meditates are understood as me myself.
Something else which accomplishes the sublime dharma will not be found.
The positive minds known as “buddha”
And those negative concepts known as “sentient beings”
Are not two, they are created by yourself.
Do not hope for a separate result!
You the one who has cast away activities, develop deep confidence!
However, by the profound compassion of the victorious ones,
This personal experience of knowing interdependence,
Is a personal instruction for all my followers.
Do not cast this from your heart but cherish it dearly!
